We like 2003 UB313.
Don't exactly know how I feel about that. I've had to live with only 9 most of my time here on Earth, the prettiest blue orb, the third from the Sun. I loved that tv series where they had aliens from outer space try and learn how we live our lives. Try to be like us. To say I'm a big fan of scifi is an understatement. Outer space, weird-looking creatures and robots are some of my favorite things. Weekends when I was growing up I fell in love with shelves full of encyclopaedias my grandma collected, I'd sit for hours and wondered about what's out there. My imagination fed on this trove of real knowledge and I made villages on the Moon with Lego blocks. We lived on a mountain and I took walks at night, feeling so close to the stars, and without any other light to see with I watched them flicker and imagined them dancing in the sky.
In the future when we have our flying cars drive us to work or the park, diners are run by helpful aliens and our shopping malls are rife with helper robots, I want to step into one of those teleportation chambers and be one of the first Earthmen to see the new world they build on this new planet. I just know it's going to be beautiful. These two will be the soundtrack of my dreams until then.

[ Notes ] Orbital's 2CD In Sides remains as one of my most favorite. Found it in a cd recyclery for a fiver and that was pure luck right there. Years ago I saw them perform live and five thousand kids all jumped up and down at the same time when the familiar opening zhoom came on. They played this! It was awesome! I like 2 very much, especially around 6 minutes 26 seconds when the little fwhee fhwee sound comes in the background for just a few seconds. And then it's just magic. You know what gets me everytime? Listening to this song (both parts of it) makes me feel really happy and really sad at the same time. Don't know why.
Can I get a HELL YES to your opinion on In Sides
Mang! And their shows are BEYOND awesome. Just imagine two bouncy happy guys with mechanic suits and helmets with flashlight attachments banging away on workstations for two hours. Add to that a three tier projection beyond them of footage that cheekily matches / makes fun of each of their tracks going on in the background. For example, while Satan was playing, they had instructional videos from the 1950s like "Duck and Cover", Leave it to Beaver, instructional cooking videos, etc.
Brilliant!
Of their albums, I like 'em in this order (from best to "worst"):
1. In Sides (two disc, non "The Saint" oriented aka the first pressing of the album)
2. Middle of Nowhere
3. In Sides (two disc, with The Saint tracks)
4. The Blue Album (You Lot is awesome; the rest is "eh")
100. The Altogether (DO NOT BUY THIS ALBUM. HORRIBLE)
I have nevber listened to:
Orbital 1
Orbital 2
Snivelization
Octane
But would like to.
So there you go.
I think it is time you halla me.
My secret shame is liking (very much, actually) the Kilmer movie "The Saint" because of its really good soundtrack. It was unbeatable! From Blue I like "What Happens Next" mostly for the robot/synthesized voices. Those always captivate me. "One Perfect Sunrise" is a good tune to wake up to (in the morning anyway) because it's so cheery and uplifting. It's almost like you can't have a bad day if you listen to this first thing.
The Altogether I could not help but get into. When it was released I was almost always at SMP (St Marks Place aka the coolest place in NYC) and one of the record stores there the kids were always playing heavy breaks. This is the main reason why I have many DJ Icey cds - I was swept right into the time's and area's infatuation with breaks (not to be confused with "breakcore", which sucks). Anyway said dj used a track from The Altogether and I just had to get his cd and TA as well. The video to "Pay Per View" is kinda cool. Music and video from the Hartnolls always makes me happy and sad at the same time. I just don't know why. At their live shows there's (was) a lot of happy, positive energy that filled you right up and made you so sure that the future was/is going to be All Right.
I miss the brothers P&P. Them retiring was terrible news.
The highlighted are my faves. Of course, the last shows are Must Haves. Is Jer's server up? I'll be more than happy to help fill you in on your gaps.
PS. Been meaning to post TMON but procrastination is a heavy cross to bear. "Way Out" is simply, the awesomest awesomest thing ever.
The saddest robot story I've heard in song? This one. (I like songs about the ocean. And sea chanteys, too, remember?)
You and your teleportation. Goodness.
While you built Lego cities, I dreamt of being the one to capture Sun in glass bulbs like so many fireflies in jars, to provide light for people. Oh, I thought I knew precisely how to manipulate physics: stand upright and begin kicking my legs furiously, as I might in swimmingpools. If only I tried hard enough. Of course, in those days, I was the girl who thought that by yelling "Super Mario Jump!" and breaking a regular gait in order to leap occasionally, I could outrun those who chased me in games of tag.
new tunes too!
Yes teleportation. Actually, I rather like matter compilers very much as well. The Diamond Age is an excellent book that details MC. If not teleportation in a few years, maybe the MC then? They (the sage scientists) must give us something. A hybrid car is not technology-driven after all. Progress into alternate fuels is motivated by the lack of care and foresight (and greed, actually) that corporations and governments are characterised by. Oh. There I go again, being ranty as usual.
But I dream of teleportation because it is very convenient. And neat.
Sun in glass! Like a certain princess and the moon! All that running and jumping, my. Did you have to eat a lot of gummis to sustain that high level of energy? :) The thought of you in such a state of activity makes me smile, as more often than not in the present time, wouldn't you rather be ...napping?
<3 Hello.
Yes, I did; I've a friend whose favourite band for a time was Five Iron Frenzy. Connect-the-dots.
And my friend Jordan! Playing for the Catharsis of His Spirit. :) (When their demo is released, you must at least hear his voice & piano-playing. Made all us girls swoon.)
Napping and...napping. Right.
Hahahahaha. Jordan. Oh I remember how you laughed! That was just awesome.
(I actually stayed up a bit. Enough to post two shorties anyway. And still am. Maybe I was just really really hungry? A hunger headache. I'm hungry again all of a sudden. Are you up? Will you stay up?)
Awake
Re: Awake
PS. Thank you.
